Confession:
Dear friends,
I am not as faithful as the Philippians whom Paul exhorts above.
In fact, even though I’ve been walking with the Lord a while now I still struggle to trust and obey Him.
Even though He has always proven faithful to me.
And, often, my failure is a great source of discouragement for me.
However, I’ve come to realize that even in light of my everyday failures there is still hope.
God isn’t going to quite on me even if I am His most disobedient child. He says, “you are still mine. And I still love you”.
To be quite honest, I don’t know where you are at. Maybe you’re on a roll and you’re walking in the Spirit every moment of the day. If so, good, keep going.
But, maybe you feel like me, and you’re not on a roll. And, you’ve been stumbling. And, if you put your failures and your success’s on a balance scale, failure would weigh in and win.
But let me tell you something. Your failure does not define you. Christ does. “There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:1).
Look at the cross.
The truth is, your Father in Heaven sees you in light of Christ and He delights in you; you are His child, you are His beloved one. He is not going to give up on you. EVER.
So don’t you dare give up on yourself.
Let’s pray together.
Father,
We know that we have failed in many ways. We know that we can never make the scale tip in our favour. But, we also know the power of what Christ did for us on the cross, and in His success we abide.
So, Almighty Father, please speak to us in the silence, by Your Holy Spirit and Your Holy Word.
Make us attentive to You, and give us the strength and the courage to trust and obey.
Make us fierce and bold for You.
In Jesus Holy Name
-Amen

Thanks for your timely words of encouragement. When we look to ourselves, we are sunk. What else can we do but fall at the foot of the cross and thank God for His mercy and grace shown to sinners like us at Calvary.
