Can do.

Have you ever come to a place in life where you know that something has to give? When you feel pressure all the time, like something is weighting you down? Where you have a hard time smiling and every stray thought turns to darkness?
The truth is that we are sometimes helpless to our circumstances. Things happen the way that they do, planned or unplanned. So we live, at times in green pastures, and at other times in the valley of the shadow of death. There is no recourse. We cannot change others. We cannot change circumstances. We cannot.
The only thing that we CAN DO is cling desperately to Christ. There is no hope at all outside of Christ. There is no new life. There is no true satisfaction. Nothing.
Do NOT listen to falsehood. Do NOT long for riches. Do NOT even put your faith in other people. Do NOT look to other things. Instead, look up.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

A Rock and A Hard Place

I've been gifted with many things in my life. But one of the best gifts I've ever gotten is the advice that my Papaw wrote in the front of my Bible. The note he inscribed says:
"What to do when you are between a rock and a hard place. Jer 33:3 'Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'"
So far it's proven to be pretty good advice, so I'm passing it on to you. May you be blessed as a result.

I Have Come Into the World To See This

An excerpt from the poem “I Have Come Into This World To See This” by Hafiz as it is recorded in the book Love Poems From God: Twelve Sacred Voices from the East and West by Daniel Ladinsky.

I have come into the world to experience this:

men so true to love
they would rather die before speaking
an unkind word,

men so true their lives are His covenant -
the promise of
hope.

I have come into this world to see this:
the sword drop from men's hands
even at the height of
their arc of
rage

because we have finally realized
there is just one flesh

we can wound.
