Have you ever come to a place in life where you know that
something has to give? When you feel pressure all the time, like something is
weighting you down? Where you have a hard time smiling and every stray thought
turns to darkness?
The truth is that we are sometimes helpless to our
circumstances. Things happen the way that they do, planned or unplanned. So we
live, at times in green pastures, and at other times in the valley of the
shadow of death. There is no recourse. We cannot change others. We cannot
change circumstances. We cannot.
The only thing that we CAN DO is cling desperately to
Christ. There is no hope at all outside of Christ. There is no new life. There
is no true satisfaction. Nothing.
Do NOT listen to falsehood. Do NOT long for riches. Do NOT
even put your faith in other people. Do NOT look to other things. Instead, look
up.
1 I lift up my
eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let
your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
Psalm
121
